Winchester 52 E

I have a winchester 52 E with prone stock. The orginal white line butt pad has been replaced with a freeland adjustable butt plate. Does this hurt the value of the rifle; if it does buy how much.

    I don't have my book handy but the 52e MAY have come with the adj. butt plate. not many e's made and I don't think the b.p. will hurt value any.

    edit; "gun less than 6 years old"..........the rifle is a lot older than that, production ended about 1980.

    edit #2; acording to h. houze's book the last 52 was produced in 1980, he shows a couple of different 'hook' style butt assy.

    the E-52 is i think the hardest 52 to get followed by the A-52 and on down the line. eastbank.

    Your 52E did not come with an adjustable buttplate unless it is the International model, which also came from the factory with a laminated thumbhole stock, Freeland palmrest, aluminum hook to fit buttplate, and a flat rubber pad that also can be used in lieu of the hook attachment. The Marksman stocked 52E's(and D's) came with a white line rubber buttplate with the Winchester logo.
    Winchester also made a very few International "Prone" models. These used a different design stock that had a very high comb. Since comb was so high, the bolt could not be removed. Therefore they made this model with a removable comb. These models used the standard Winchester white line pad and was cut to match comb.
