IMO, best modification for the Ruger .22 autos is a match trigger.

    Volquartson has a good one.

To me the only other thing that might make sense is a red dot sight, but that depends a little on what you are trying to do with it.

Does the MkIII have that miserable button for the slide release, like the older 22/45 or did they put a real lever on there?

An old company who used to have parts in Brownell's, Broken Gun Ranch used to make a large slide stop which was an easy 5 minute install in 22/45s and you could actually manipulate the thing with a thumb, instead of ripping your thumbpad off trying to push it down.

    Still the button, BUT,
At least on mine, sliding it down with the thumb (and I have small hands), is slick and easy so long as there's at lease one round in the magazine. The follower button seems to be what makes dropping the slide hard with an empty mag. To each his own, but doesn't bother me.

The only changes I'd make to mine would be a flipup peep and a detachable shoulder stock(illegal,I know). The one I carry as a chore gun has been abused severely but performs perfectly w/o significant problems. Using a fencepost rest it will ring the 8" gong @ 110 yards from my yard gate consistently.

Be nice to find a couple of the Broken Gun Ranch levers. Too bad BGR is no more.[:(]
