Unusual Smith wesson mdl 29-5 classic DX

This is my first post so bear with me.
A friend has a smith model 29-5 Classic DX 44 mag with the 6.5 inch barrel. It's in very good "plus" condition with better than 95 % blueing on it.
There is gold inlay on either side stating
"smith & Wesson
and
29 Classic DX
The serial number is....
GNF 0034
Is this what I think to be a low production numbered pistola?
Any info about the pistol would be greatly appriciated

The 29-5 Classic DX was made in 1991-1992.
That's all the book has on them.
No production numbers.0
