Color Case-harden

At the Tulsa show I saw a Martini 12/15 that was beautifully color case-hardened. The gentleman who built the gun did the work himself.
He said that he used a kit, I think from Brownell's, that used a black carbourizing flame and chemical (not cyanide).
I have been unable to find anything similar at Brownell's or anywhere else for that matter.
If anyone can help direct me to this or a similar kit I'd appreciate it.

    I googled color casehardening and the first thing that popped up was Equipment and materials from Brownells. A bit pricey; likely out of the question for a private owner, single gun project, but if you wanted to make a hobby or business of it, Brownell's would be a good place to start. Go to their web page, write explaining your needs, and you'll get a response, guaranteed. It's been taking a few days lately, for me to hear from them. I'm sure they get alot of requests, but reply they will.

    d.i.y. c.c. hardning isn't realy practical, the are several places that do it. here is a rem r. block i just had done for $120

    Rob, Brownell's was the first place I looked but the oven approach is cost prohibitive. Gentleman I spoke with said he did it with a small kit and a torch. Could have been blowing smoke.

    Mike, I've done some research on C.C. hardening and agree it's not practical for a hobbyist. That's why I was so intrigued by the prospect of a kit using a torch and chemicals opposed to a heat treat oven, crucible and charcoal/bone packing.
    The Rem R block looks nice, who did it?

    Thanks for the information MW.

    I may go that route but I'd still like to find the DIY kit the gentleman described, using a black carburizing flame and chemical to color case harden.
