Saiga 12 Ammo

I just won a new Saiga 12 shotgun and tried low brass 2 3/4" shells in it. When fired, it won't eject the shell. Someone told me that a Saiga 12 can only fire high brass shells but I haven't gotten any yet. The Saiga has a gas plug that you can adjust for different loads but I have tried the max and min with no results. If anyone has one of these, I would appreciate your advise.

  They were not designed for low powered shells so why would you try them
  
  Most will still work with the low brass shells though.
  
  Drill out your gas port if needed.

  You may just have a "tight" one. After a good break in period, you may find that you can leave it on position #1 which is for hot loads and it will still function with the low brass loads. Clean and lube it AGAIN, then run some more shells thru it.

  Make sure your gas port is not partially clogged.

  There is a 4 position replacement gasport available in the aftermarket for the saiga shotguns that will help resolve this problem. Best

  High base, low base no difference.
  
  You have to shoot loads of 1 1/8oz loads to function right.
  
  Some brands may do better then others.
