    Something does not look Right/Correct/Original . Non return and no gunbroker emails raises a red flag for me . hope Bert H takes a look and answers your question.

    Agree. Something smells here. For what looks like a decent refinish, the barrel near the muzzle looks funky.

    Besides the alterations the seller mentioned; the magazine was cut, the magazine hanger isn't original, the forearm wood has been altered or changed out.

    That is one to stay away from. It has been severely refinnished, the bore has slight pitting, it has been altered in the mag tube, and saddle ring stud, at least. As some would say...It's a "Frankenchester"...I wonder where that came from??[:0][:0][:0]

    ...Got an answer pertaining to the discoloration near the muzzle. He says it's from "blood splatter" that removed the blue, and he touched it up with cold blue.
    ...I was only looking for a shooter in .25/20, so I don't care about some details, but this fish smells like it's been in the sun too long.

    It is a completely reworked gun. Very little of it is Winchester original... a.k.a. a Frankenchester[xx(]

    ...Thanks for chiming in, Bert. As I said, I'm not looking for a collector piece, just a .25/20 shooter, but I have a bad feeling about that thing. I'll go with my gut feeling here. For all I know, the bore could be total toast.
    ...I'm in no hurry, so I'll wait to see what else comes up. Maybe a Marlin. For now, my Stevens .25/20 SS will keep the urge at bay. Its bore looks like a mile of bad road, but it still shoots pretty well.
