Teardown for Colt Single Action Army

I have a Colt Single Action Army .45 revolver that needs total cosmetic restoration. Total disassembly is a must. I will be doing everything except bluing and nickel refinish. It doesnt look to be very difficult in regard to field stripping or reassembly but if any body out there has any thing to add it would be much appreciated. I have done many rifles and pistols but not a Colt S.A.A. Have'nt found a tutorial that covers this one.Anybody???[?]

    be SURE to use a correct colt-specific screwdriver..not just any screwdriver u have on hand.buggered up screws WILL HAPPEN with the wrong type of screw driver.
    If u have to ask what the difference is,well...please don't do this.

    Thanks for the Warlock info. I can use this to advantage. This is one of two from a Nevada Centennial boxed set. The pistols sat in high humidity for years. The damage would bring tears to anyone interested in firearms. I understand about the hollow ground drivers etc. My mechanical background is extensive so I have no fear of the fieldstrip issues. Both pistols are repairable with some work. Thanks guys. Lee[?]

    It's easy to strip and reassemble - just a suggestion, when you reassemble screw down the mainspring first and swing it into place againxt the hammer, not the reverse. Other than that it's very simple and straightforward.

    And an endorsement of the correct screwdrivers.

    Remove grips then butt screw and backstrap screws. Remove backstrap and depress mainspring with thumb and swing top to left.Remove triggerguard screws and remove triggerguard. Remove trigger spring.
    The rest is self evident
