    I remember my Dad getting this gun in the 1970s. I know he shot it back then. It is a .32 rimfire. On top of gun it says SMITHS NEW MODEL The grips say OAS. Bottom of but of gun has 14510. The Frame is Brass in color. However the wear marks show siver colored steel under the brass. The barrel is steel. I would like to know if anyone can tell me what this is. And aprox price. I will sell it. Email for pics. I do not know how to put on this site. Dan.

    It appears to be a American Arms Co. double barrel derringer or a modern repo of one. The originals date to the 1860's/70's time frame. The one in the photo appears to be in far to good a condition to be 140 years old. It might be a modern repo or a original that has been restored and engraved.

    EDIT #1, the originals were rimfire and most of the modern repos percussion

    The frame is made out of brass on the originals. Also the manufacturers markings are on the barrels. It's possible if it was refinished prior to being engraved the original markings were polished off. If it is a original American Arms derringer from the 19th Century being refinished and engraved would have a very negative affect on it's value.

    Called a "Twister" repo. Do a "google' for tons of info

    The originals have a pin holding the trigger and not a screw, and have blade sights and not the bead type shown. The screw near the hammer that may retain a firing pin also doesn't belong. If not a modern replica, it may be a foreign copy; the Belgians and French favored the bead style sight. But any proofmarks would probably have been deleted by the engraving.
