Colt SAA Barrel
I have a early first generation 7 1/2" barrel. It is marked under the ejector housing with the number "732". Also under the ejector pin with a sideways "44".
Here's my problem, a 44-40 slops around in the muzzle end and a 45 long colt won't fit in the muzzle.
I had a gunsmith slug it and it's .450 across the grooves.
Could this be a 44 Henry ( rimfire )

I have a 4 3/4" .357 Magnum Colt SAA barrel, fits 1st & 2nd generation Colts. It has a one line address on the top, and the Colt Single Action Army .357 marking on the right side of the barrel above the ejector housing. The caliber marking is usually on the left side. There are no other markings. Any idea why the marking would be on the right side. 0 -
I am 99% sure you have a factory REPLACEMENT barrel The 357 did not come out until 1935 in the first generation and only 625 made all the first generation guns with 4&3/4 inch barrel I have ever seen had a 2 line address on the top of barrel . The second generation guns with 4&3/4 inch barrels that I have owned also have 2 line address. I have 2 second generation 38 specials and one first generation 38 special however none of these are 4&3/4 inch . I do have a number of 38 Special barrels and cylinders both NOS and replacement new barrels The markings are different on my replacement barrels. then the new old stock. BTW they only made 2850 4&3/4 inch second generation in blued 357 Mag.

I have checked all my reference books, and there is no indication that replacement barrels were caliber marked on the right side. 0
