what is the process when a FFl dealer Dies?

My friend just passed away, his wife is asking me how to close out the business, handle inventory,etc. She wants to retain the inventory for a latter date sale.

  If there is to be a later date sale, then the business is not closed. To close a business, all records and record books are turned over to the BATF. You cannot keep the inventory for a future sale without a FFL. That would have to be conducted through another dealer.

  If the wife is also on the license, she can continue the business. Otherwise, another FFL will need to dispose of the inventory and records send to ATF as XXCross stated above.

  Have her check with the alphabet police (BATF) , at one time you could by some (?) means retain the inventory (firearms)? with-out keeping the FFL active ??? I have known of two (2) different people that have done this in the past ???

  Assuming the wife can legally own the guns, there is no reason the guns can't be transferred to her on the proper paperwork and become personal property, at least I don't believe so. Additional there are some specific inheritance runs on the ATF site I recall seeing
