Do I need to get a DOJ approval to ship a C&R rifle to CA, I'm an FFL

Are you an FFL dealer of an FFL C&R holder? Is it going to another Type 01 FFL dealer or to a Type 03 Curio and Relics licensee?
If you have a Type 03 C&R FFL then the answer is NO in all cases.
If you are a dealer and it is going to another dealer then the answer is YES (which is why lots of CA dealers, including myself, also hold Type 03 FFLs).
If you are a dealer and it is going to a C&R FFL then the answer is NO.0 -

DOJ contact includes shipments of handguns and long guns going from dealer to dealer into CA. Shipments from non licensees and C&R FFL holders don't require a DOJ contact, only FFL dealers (including transactions between CA dealers [:(!]) are subject to that requirement.0 -

Too many folks holding dealer FFLs in CA were not fully qualified FFL dealers (no state license, sales tax permits, local business license, ect.) and they were still purchasing guns...I'm not sure how with all of the lonnie's who won't sell guns to CA. To be a dealer in CA and receive a firearm shipped from another dealer (though not from a private individual) you need an approval number from the CA DOJ, which maintains a list of authorized CA dealers. If you are not on the approved DOJ dealer list then you can't get the shipping number and can't get the gun. 0 -
We have discussed the issues of shipping/not shipping guns to CA numerous times and I see no real reason to drag it out again. The original question has been answered so I say call it good and move along. 0
