Good used .22LR bolt actions

For the past 20 years I've been giving .22 bolt action rifles to the sons and daughters of my friends.
It used to be easy, Mossbergs, Marlins and others were on the used racks and gun show tables for $35-60.
Now, the price has gone up on the old stand bys ($80-120). I expect to pay more for everything these days.
What are the best low cost bolt action .22 rifles (new or used) today?

    IMHO, still Marlins, Mossys and Savages. However, with age comes collectability, along with price of everything going up.

    I salute you sir. You change a young persons life.
    But prices are up as mentioned. Maybe you could hook up with local sportsman club and get some donation money or even guns.
    Even provide some range time education.

    I am very partial to the Remington 510 as a beginner rifle since the safety engages every time you work the bolt.

    I agree. The Remington 500 series were IMO the best of the vintage field grade .22's.

    In terms of older bolt action rifles I prefer Winchester Models 67,68,69.

    I got a tube-mag Remington about 6-7 years ago for $60 at an actual gun store. It had a cracked buttplate, some scratches on the stock and some bluing wear, but no rust anywhere.

    I think its a model 582, and despite the cosmetic issues, its an awesome shooter.

    All kinds of stuff is out there if you are patient and look hard enough.

    I don't think $80-100 for a quality wood and steel American-made bolt action gun is very much, by the way.

    I do expect to pay more these days. I've seen new Marlin bolt actions new for $129, they felt real cheap compared to older ones.
    The last one I gave was a store brand made by Mossberg that cost $80.
    Does anyone have any input on new low priced (under $150) guns?

    As far as I know the Savage Mark II is about as cheap you can get new and their around the 160.00. Every once in awhile I snag a decent .22 off the auction side for less then 100.00. Just snagged a Savage model 64 for 80.00 a couple months ago. I like to give .22's to deserving youngsters too. but it is getting harder to afford to do that now days.

    got to mention remington 34 and 341. sometimes they come up for under $150 in shooter grade or better
