Colt 45 Series 80 NM w/Bright Nickle Finish

I have a Colt 45 series 80 Gold Cup National Match with a bright nickle finish that I bought new. I plan to sell it later on GB. I have been looking at the series 80 listings on GB and nearly all of these models are blued or SS. I saw one sell at a premium that was a chrome finish, but no nickle listings. The gun is 99.9% with no blemishes. It is a beautiful gun with less than 100 rounds fired. I am wondering what kind of reception to expect for a GB listing, specifically whether the finish would be considered a plus or, somehow, if it might be a negative. It is my safe queen, with my brushed chrome Desert Eagle MK VII .44 Mag reining as my safe king.

    The "chrome" gun you saw sell at a premium was not really chrome, it was nickel. Colt did not chrome their guns, they are all nickel plated. Your gun would also likely sell for a "premium" if you listed it as nickel guns are less common than blued. Some sellers mistakenly put chrome in the description of their gun getting it confused with nickel.

    Yes, I see one that has the same bright nickle finish that was sold back in December for $1,799. It looks just like mine, but the seller listed it as bright SS. There are a lot of SS models listed, but they are not nearly as bright as the nickle model I have.

    Polished Stainless and Nickel look a lot alike when viewed separately, but when you look at them together there is a difference.

    Maybe this will help. Here are 3 of my Pythons. The top is my "Ultimate" in polished stainless steel. The other 2 are nickel guns. You can see the difference when side by side, but if you look at them separately they might all look like nickel. You can see the nickel is "brighter".

    Here is my series 70 Colt in bright nickel. Never been fired. It was previously owned by John Wayne.

    Got it at an auction years ago where guns owned by him and his family were sold. Thats about all there is to "Do tell"

    Yep Lefty, your "John Wayne" Gun finish looks identical to my Series 80. I don't think I have seen any Colts listed since December that were polished SS.
