Lockup
I have a Ruger Ranch Rifle, that the bolt is locked tight in the closed position. The chamber is empty, the trigger has beeb pulled, and the safety is off. There is no magazine in the rifle. I put the original 5 shot mag. in and it made no difference. The bolt lock button works, but nothing changes. I've never had this happen before. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Did you shoot it, put it away for a while but not clean it? And now is the first time you've taken it out since then? 0 -
had the same thing happen. there was some moisture around the gas piston. i took a 1x4 about 12" long and rapped the bolt handle sharply to unlock the bolt then cleaned and lubed the piston. 0 -
Thanks guys, I tapped it with a rubber mallet and it came loose. I haden't fired it since I bought it and it was quite dirty. I cleaned it and everything seems ok. Thanks again.

I recently ran into a guy who had a nice old old M-10 S&W that had last been cleaned about 5 years ago and with WD-40 and put away ever since. The guns cylinder release, crane, trigger, etc was stuck solid from the laquer-like residue. It had to be soaked in solvent and disassembled before it worked again. Make sure after your Ruger is cleaned up well that a CLP or similar type gun lube is used and it'll run like a champ. 0 -
Try using bdsuperlube from Lakeland Florida. IMHO, its the finest firearm lubricant on the market today. It removes all rust, cleans and lubricates, and even acts as a bore solvent. A few years ago I bought an old rusted solid double barrell shotgun. It restored the original patina finish. Sold it for twice what I paid for it. You can find them online. Best 0
