Kimber failure...help?
Hello, I have been target shooting my whole life. I enjoy it. Last year i bought a Kimber 1911 style pistol. At the range, using different types of ammo it fails to eject about 1 in 50 rounds. I have heard other people having similar problems. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

That was really helpful thanks John. It always amazes me how many worhless idiots have reinvented them selves on the internet. The problem actually wasnt discovered until yesterday, I wanted to gather some information before calling the company. 0 -
I take it you read the manual? Ran a few boxes of "factory" ammo? What's the going numbers 200 rounds or so?
Let's see I see you ran a "Gum Ball" of ammo (mixed matched). Now were they always the same brand that "FTE"? Or just one in 50 (random)? Personally I'd see if there are gunk piled up on the extractor. Or see if The etractor is jacked up some other way.
Also like Nwcid stated you haven't called the company first? I mean you did spend a good chunk of cash and they would know more about Kimber issues. Also name calling ain't gonna be helpful bger68.0 -

I have been casually visiting and posting on this site, off and on, for some time. Off periods, for the most part, were due to just the kind of juvenile behavior in response that you received, above.
Not all who answer questions on this Forum are foolish and ill-mannered, but there are enough of them (some being self-professed "world reknown experts", no less) to make many members and visitors look for help elsewhere. No one wants to be a visitor here and be ambushed and mugged by someone who is supposed to be replying to lend some manner of assistance, rather than being a mean-spirited bully.0 -

Is the expended round left in the chamber or are you getting a stove pipe? Have you looked at the rim to see how the extractor is contacting it? I have never had a problem with the magazines I use in the 1911 I have you tried a different manufacture magazine in the pistol?

Hello First off we need to know if This Kimber has an extractor that you can see running along the side of the slide behind the ejection port ot is the extractor the type that is used on the original design of the 1911 that is held in place buy the firing pin retainer. The reason we need to know is because they will be troubleshot in different ways . Sorry you gotten off to a bad start here, your 1st postings. Maybe someone's having a bad day, eh? No matter-- stick around, that'll change.
As already has, what with Perryshoot offing up advice in a more personal way-- he knows 1911's, so I'd jump on that. Which we hope will be shared back here for the rest of us, too.
Little more info needed-- is the Kimber new, or if used-- how old? Has this been a problem since you hae owned it? Kimber's with the earlier 1911 orginal type extractor rarely had trouble, which is why perryshoot asked. The newer external type-- yeah, there's been hiccups.
Also, as cannot guess your familiarity with this pistol, though stated been shooting a long time, still, just going over the basics here-- have you stripped it down, given it a good cleaning, paying special attention under the extractor and a good bore brushing?

The gun is new, a year old, I am the first owner. Never dropped, I keep it clean, less than 500 rounds have been put through it. Its a great pistol, shoots stright as hell. sometimes it doesnt throw the spent brass out. As I said I am trying to gather some info before I call Kimber. 0 -
