Sheridan, single shot pistol, sidekick

Any updated knowledge on this pistol, I am bidding on one at a local auction and very little information available on them. This one is mint or unfired, Sidekick model, it is listed as a 22 magnum.

I have reseached previous postings and I have not found anything on a 22 magnum. Most are listed as Knockabout models.

  I once had a Knockabout that nearly got me in trouble with the FBI and the RCMP. Long story, not now.....
  I never heard of a magnum version, though it wouldn't surprise me if someone took out a chamber reamer and "magnumized" one.
  If so, I wouldn't fire it, and I wouldn't throw any good money at it either. As I recall, other than the grips, there isn't a screw in the gun. Basically handgun shaped plates held together with permanent rivets. The ultimate you can't take it apart, disposable firearm. IF it could be verified as factory magnum, it would be rare enough to have some potential value. If it's been rechambered, regardless of the condition, I'd steer clear. Way clear. No use, even as a parts gun, given the construction. Paper weight only.

  Sheridan's only .22 pistol was the Knocabout, made 1953-ca. 1960. No mention of any caliber other than .22s/l/lr in the book "Know Your Sheridan Rifles & Pistols" by Ron Elbe, nor a Sidekick model. Something there doesn't add up. As stated, a Knocabout modified to .22 Magnum doesn't sound safe to me either.
