quote:What is the maximum rounds you can put in a single stack magazine for this gun? There are 5 and 10 round mags available for the WASR single stack.

quote:I have heard that the double stacks sometimes have a lot of "play" in the mag because of the way the guns were modified to make it a double stack. Is that true? Do you eliminate that problem by getting a single stack?Yes, its true that mag wobble is a problem for some of these converted guns.

Mag "wobble" may be fixable by building up the sides of the magwell opening with welding, etc, but that's not a trivial solution.

I'd agree that the best way to eliminate the problem is to buy a gun that was manufactured to take double stack mags and not one modified later to do so.

quote:Any pros or cons to either gun?
WASR guns are basically the bottom of the bucket when it comes to Kalashnikovs. They'll generally work OK, but don't expect too much when it comes to fit and/or finish. Some of the Century made/converted guns suffer from tilted front sights, which is another potential problem.

Pros are, they're cheap, and they're Kalashnikovs, meaning they'll generally run OK, despite the low-end manufacturing and assembly. If you want a "beater" gun, they're fine.

One potential big plus to single-stack guns is that since they CANNOT accept high cap magazines, they may be legal in some jurisdictions where conventional AKs are banned.

i have one that holds 30 rds and assuming its a double stack. Nice gun for the money. I refinished everything and looks really nice. Cant see spending double for a russian built one because in the end it an AK.

I do need to get a single stack one though at some point
