Colt Officers Model Target 38 Special CTG.

I have this model of pistol and need some help with the D.O.M.
It's serial # is 781168. It belonged to a old family member that retired from law inforcement in 1965.
Any help would be great. Thanks, opiej75

  The serial number range for the Officers Model Target is kind of confusing during the late 40's when this revolver dates from. I'd call it 1949.

  I carried one of these in my early days in law enforcement. These were given special attention as to fit and finish in the lock-work. They usually have a nice trigger, especially on single action, unless it was carried by an L.A.P.D. officer, then the single action mode was removed. It is a strong pistol and should give you lots of enjoyable shooting.
