    Stay away from the hot loads with the Spanish pistols. I wouldn't be loading them any hotter 1100-1200 FPS with a 115 grain bullet. Astra, Star & Llama have been out of business for years now, at this point in time. The pistols chambered for the Spanish Largo military cartridge probably date to at least the 50's. I would be pushing your luck with them, with any kind of red line loads.

    i was thinking making my cap around 1250 FPS being the pistol i am getting is 90% condition

    and 1200 FPS with 128 gr.

    i might make a box of 1350 FPS stuff for 125 gr and keep it labled HOT PDA ONLY and only make one box of 25 of it ever. and once the 25 rds are gone there gone.

    Years ago I had one of the old Llamas that was chambered for the Largo cartridge. In reloading for it I had a case fail and was hit by pieces of it that came out of the ejection port. As I'm right handed, I wasn't expecting it to happen that way. It wasn't a pleasant experience.

    147 grain bullets for 9mm are a relatively recent development, and are not really historically accurate for 9mm largo. While you probably could work up safe loads for those bullets, the overall bullet shape and longer length may lead to feeding problems, particularly in older guns designed for ordinary ball ammo. Unless you're interested in putting a suppressor on this gun, I can't see a good reason to run 147 grain bullets anyway.

    On 124 grain bullets at 1350fps, I wouldn't try that if I were you.

    On paper that's about a max load for the round, but as mentioned, these old Spanish guns aren't known for their strength. Its not a question of how used or unused the gun is, its a question of the gun design and steel quality of the pistol.

    124 grain bullet at 1250 fps is equivalent to 9mm+P. That ought to be hot enough for "serious" purposes, I think. So why push things?

    If you really need more than that (eg for hunting or to make "major" in competition), I'd suggest going to 9x23 winchester, where 1350fps is no sweat at all.
