Tec 22 double tap

I caught the tec 45 conversation and went to the sksparts site. They have parts for the tec 22 but I'm not sure what parts I need to fix the 'double/triple tap' that my 22 is doing.
Is it the seer? I didn't see that listed as a part but it might come as part of a repair kit.

    I missed the earlier part of this, but if your gun is firing more than one shot per trigger pull, a worn sear (or other fire control component) is a likely culprit.

    Hopefully the problem in question is due to legitimate wear and tear, not someone else's messing around with the gun, because having a gun like that in your possession could land you in a HEAP of legal trouble.

    I can't speak to the Tec-22 (which is, to put it mildly, not known as a quality firearm), but some guns can double just from having dirt gumming up the fire control group.

    Before messing with fitting sears or other parts, I'd try stripping the gun down and blasting it clean with brake cleaner (gunscrubber) first.


    EDIT:. Well, I didn't want to say they're "junk", but yeah, they are. Ten seconds of internet searching and it appears that the doubling problem you describe is pretty common with these guns, and for exactly the reason you suspect, wear to the sear, etc.

    Your rangemaster was right to scold you. A gun that *unintentionally* fires more than one shot with a trigger pull is dangerous. If that happens you should stop shooting immediately.

    If you continue shooting knowing the gun is going to double, then its no longer "unintentional" is it? At that point, you've gone from merely "dangerous" to "dangerous and highly illegal". The BATFE does not look kindly on "malfunctioning" guns that fire more than one shot per trigger pull, and I think there is even case precedent of people being convicted of possessing these sorts of guns.

    By quick glance it appears that the sear is built into the hammer (part #107). So depending on where exactly the wear is, you'll probably have to replace the hammer or the trigger, or both. Doesn't look all that complicated, frankly. Might be a good idea just to replace both right off the bat. Make sure you destroy the worn parts too, while you're at it.

    I bought the gun new and have fired many boxes of rounds thru it. A gunsmith told me many years ago that they were junk and that it is normal wear and tear when it starts double tapping. It usually jams up after double tapping. I personally don't know enough about them to modify it to do that, in fact I haven't shot it for years because it started doing that. It got me a scolding from a rangemaster one day so I decided to retire it. It was a lot of fun to shoot though, that's the reason I would like to fix it.
