1950 Russian Tula SKS
I have an opportunity to get a 1950 Russian Talu star sks for 350.00. First, is this a decent deal? Second, who can tell me some history behind the tula? is this a more desireable firearm because it is a TULA Star? Thanks!!

Tula was the only Russian arsenal to make the SKS until Izhevsk came on-line in 1953. Tula's are the most common Russian SKS because of this.
Value would depend on factory originality and cosmetic condition. Most Russian SKS's have been arsenal reworked, this is apparent usually by the paint finish and rework markings. Early Tula's didn't have chrome plated bores, if the one your interested in buying is one of these make sure the barrel isn't rusted out.
If the one your interested in is a descent factory original rework with a OK bore, $350 would be in the ballpark price wise IMHO.0 -

The bore is bright and shiny- Looks as if the rifle hasnt been fired, or fired very little. All the numbers match up-the stock with the action, and even the magazine. If it's around monday, I think I will get it. Ive seen folks asking over 400 for the russians, and I dont have an sks yet. 0 -
