case cleaner
Does anyone have a formula for a good liquid case cleaner? For many years i used a combination of chromic acid, sulfuric acid and hot water. It worked beautifully and turned the cases a bright gold. Alas I ran out of chromic acid. Also i was concerned about the disposal problem. I have used the commercial ISSO product with less than spectacular results.

Any one use a Hornady sonic case cleaner.I am thinking of buying one but would like to hear from any one who has tried them before I do. 0 -
It works well, but save your money and buy one from someone other than hornady. They slap their name on it and double the price.
Great for small batches, not effective for volume work.
I also advise finishing with a rinse in distilled water if you want your cases really shiny, or else finishing by tumbling conventionally (which also dries the cases quickly).0 -
Thanks for the info I have seen them in Grafs catalog for $81-99.Havnt seen them any cheaper unfortunately. 0 -
Actually that's not bad then; local store was selling them for $175!
I got a very similar unit at harbor freight for about $75.0 -
My sweet young wife bought me one for Christmas. Works very well IMO. I use it for 38 spl brass and I usually do around 100-120 at a time with no problems. I have tried the Hornady brass cleaning solution (very expensive) and just vinegar/water/Dawn detergent solution. Seems like the Hornady solution works slightly better, but cost about 1000 times more. I think I will end up using citric acid/distilled water/Dawn detergent when I run out of the expensive stuff. 0 -
Be aware that Hornady will offer a unit with three times the capacity of the one-liter model starting this year. Watch for it if batch size is an issue.
