Remington Rifle
I would like to know the selling value of my Remington Model 742 30.6 rifle with checkard stock, with a military peep. It also has a 3X9 variable Redfield scope. The only think it needs is blueing.

I made a mistake on the calibers, it is a Model 788 and the barrels are .243 and .308. Very nice rifle! Thanks for the response already on previous post. Any more info would be great. 0 -

Welcome to the forum! With the bluing gone and adding in the cost of the scope, I'm afraid in our neck of the woods; $350 is the best she'll fetch. I'm not sure what the peep sight may or may not add.
If you plan on selling it, list it for what you want out of it and see where the auction side goes. You can also do a search on the auction side to get a general idea of what these sell for.

Due to their bad reputation a 742 with a lot of bluing wear will not bring much. If its been carried enough to wear the bluing it probably has nicks and dings in the wood. Also if it has been shot a lot there is going to be wear on the inside of the receiver. In this area it probably a $250. to $300. gun by your discription. Really need good pics of the bluing, the wood, and inside the action with the trigger assembly removed to put a true value on it. Its got to the point that I won't even buy a 742 unless I can take it out and test fire it first. 0 -
