winchester 100

I have just purchased a Winchester 100 in 308. I seem to remember something about these rifles needing a FIREING PIN UPGRADE that at one time Winchester would offer this service. Also can I check my rifle and tell if may have already been done??? Thanks Ray

    No. Only 3 I know are
    .243, .308 and .284 with the latter being the least common.

    Would a model 88 barrel fit on a model 100 to create this "rare" .358 model 100 I'm reading about?

    Most likely the one you have been reading about has been rebarreled with something. Have you got any pictures of it? Is it for sale?

    Looked at the ad, and the one picture that was there. I even e-mailed the advertiser, with no reply as of yet. That is not a stock Winny 100. It has been butchered and adulterated. It looks like it was done half way decently, but it is neither a rare factory piece, nor worth any where near what the asking price is. If the conversion actually works, meaning a gas port had to be drilled in the barrel, and gas block attached, and it shoots decently, it might be a $300.00-350.00 shooter...all depending on who is willing to pull the trigger first to test the quality of the work.

    Negative...the barrel had no sights, or provisions for sights on it from what I seen. The advertiser has still not yet answered my e-mails, nor provided any more pictures. The stock had ben cut, and recoil pad added(about a 3/4 inch, black pad, at that). It is not an 88, or 100 barrel on there from what I could see.

    UPDATE:

    I was contacted by the advertiser, and have gotten pictures. The ONLY stamp on the barrel is "358 WIN.". It is NOT a rare collector, for sure, and is possibly a shooter, but also possibly not.

    Once again, I got the pictures I requested, from the ad moretoys was talking about. THIS IS NOT A REBORE, AND IS NOT THE ORIGINAL BARREL...PERIOD. This is a complete re-barrel, and the ONLY ANYTHING stamped on the barrel is "358 WIN."...there is NOTHING else on the barrel...no provisions for sights, no dove tails, no holes drilled and tapped. It appears to be nicely done, and I am sure there was a lot of work involved with the gas system.

    I dont know if he is still in business

    the barrel is a winchester barrel with all win markings and ramp front sight with rear dovetail

    They also made the model 88, which is a lever action rifle in 358.
