Springfield M1A Ammo

I have just purchased a Springfield Armory M1A Rifle. I am about to purchase some ammo from 'The Armory' .308 Win/7.62x51 Nato FMJBT 147 gr.manufactured by Wolf. My concern is using steel casing as opposed to brass casing. The other is Slam fire with the Wolf amunition.
Has anyone used this ammunition with good results?

    Well since SA does not make an M1A1 you might want to find out for sure what you have. SA does make an M1A though........

    Depends on the price of the ammo and your expectations. Some people believe that steel cause excessive wear. For a while steel cased ammo was 2x the cost of brass in that caliber. With brass ammo at $500/k. With the price difference in one case of ammo you could easily replace all this parts that get worn. In 7 cases of ammo you could replace the whole rifle if needed.

    What would make you think there would be a Higher risk of slam fire in the M1A then in any other semi auto? Wolf still has to meet all safety specs.

    guatamalin surplus is good. i know i dont know how
    to spell it. accurate and harder primers. 147 gr ball

    havent tried the wolf

    shot a fair amount of federal gold medal with no problems except price.

    shot some cheap izzy surplus, inaccurate, but no function problems.

    be advised not to use hot loaded hunting ammo. my accuracy has been best with the 147-168 gr pills

    Robert....... The main thing that may cause a slam fire in an M1A is the method of loading. Your should always load from the magazine versus putting a round in the chamber and letting the bolt fly forward. I did the latter once and had a slam fire. M1A firing pins are NOT spring loaded like some other rifles and slap back and forth within the bolt.

    When the magazine is in place the bolt speed is slightly retarded which reduces the chance of a slam fire. Without the magazine in place the bolt travels faster and creates more inertia for the firing pin when it hits a round that has been manually placed in the chamber.

    I have shot a couple boxes of WOLF ammo in my M1A with no issues.

    I assume you mean M1A.
    Shoot what ever you want.
    Just always chamber a round from the magazine.
