Need much more detail. Photo's (see "sticky" link above)are a must and a better level of description stating markings. patent dates etc. 0 -
Detailed descriptions are needed for each rifle, or better yet, several clear pictures of each.
The 22-inch barrel length on serial 116361 is very suspicous.0 -
I will furnish pictures within a few days of both rifles.
I did make a mistake on the caliber of s/n 27543. It is 45-60.
also why do you say a 22 inch barrel is suspicious on s/n
116361? please explain your concerns.
thanx0 -

Scott,
Winchester never chambered a Model 1886 for the 45-60 WCF cartridge... it was originally introduced in the Model 1876, and was also offered in the Model 1885 Single Shot Rifle.
The standard length barrel Winchester used for the Model 1886 Sporting Rifle was 26-inches. A 22-inch barrel was standard for the Extra Lightweight Rifle in 45-70 only. A 22-inch barrel would have been a special order for a Model 1886 in 40-65 WCF unless it is a Carbine versus a Sporting Rifle.0 -
Finally 1 year later I have photo's
Winchester '86 40-65 cal s/n 116361 22 inch barrel
What do you think? value, rarity etc...

Scott,
Just as I suspected, the barrel has been cut down by 4-inches, and the magazine tube was originally 26-inches long as well. The overall condition of the rifle is "Fair" at best, and the value is minimal (it has no real collector value).0
