The 710 is the older model,with the grey synth. stock.
The 770 is the newer model and has the black synth stock.
The black stock of the 770 WILL fit on a 710 rifle.
I bought 2 different 710's out of a pawn shop. I called Remington 2 seperate times regarding the grey stock,and broken mag latches. Both times Remington sent me a new 770 black stock Free. (they have since quit doing this. this was over two year ago)Both stocks were a very easy swap out with no modifications at all.

That IS a 710 on a 770 stock. Hope this helps. The one pictured is a 270 win. The other is a 300 win mag.0 -
