Pin fell out of the trigger on my dad's 91-30

    Check out MILSURPRIFLE.com for an exploded view of your Moisin and it will show you the name of the part on the schematic. I would think that all one would have to do is center punch/peen both ends when the pin is in place and that should keep it there.

    Its probably called a "trigger hinge pin" or something like that. I'd be pretty surprised if the part cost more than $1 or so.

    There are a lot of ways you could do it, but basically you just need the pin to be slightly wider at one end (or both ends) so when its driven into place it sticks in the hole and doesn't just slide out.

    Its REALLY crude (and it would probably make a gunsmith wince), but I'd probably just lay one end of the pin on an anvil and give it one whack with a hammer to knock it out of round, then drift it into place.

    Sure, you could use a center-punch on both ends to peen a little bit of the metal outwards, and that would accomplish the same thing, though it might make it a little harder to get the pin out and back again if you ever wanted to do it.
