I beleive it was the mid to late 70's. My first gun was a sears and Robuck 22. I still have it. I cant remember them selling guns in the 80's when I first got married. 0 -
I want to say it happened in the early to middle '80's. I remember seeing firearms in the catalogs, and them being listed as for sale "in store only". And the local Sears having a sporting goods department with firearms. 0 -
Wards was still selling guns in the early 1980s.

Sears are all made by other manufactures and before 1968 none had serial numbers for the most part. You can find info on specific models yes but the cross reference for sears firearms is 2-3 pages long.0 -

They may not be in your area, but down South here I remember when J.C Pennys has a sporting dept. and sold guns, back in the 70's. They did'nt have "their" name on the guns, just brand names. 0
