9mm Largo, Star Model A?
Where can you purchase 9mm Largo ammo? can you get brass for it? or is there any alternates?
what is the quality on the 1938-1950 Production?
could a person re-barrel it with a Model B barrel?
thanks in advance Ryan

CCI loaded it in their Blazer aluminum case line for awhile. Original Spanish military stuff is also occasionally available. Star Line sells the brass under the name of 9mm Super Comp. Winchester sells it with the 9 X 23 headstamp. 0 -
The 9mm super comp is really rimless 38 Super...its about .005 short, but should work fine. Becareful using 9mm Largo max loads as the super comp case is built heavier and doesn't have as much internal volume. 0 -

You are in luck - lots of good news for you here with this excellent round and gun (chambering is 9mm Largo BTW, not 9x23) You can get excellent quality (though none reloadable as berdan primed) ammo from these gents whom I've purchased from before - good people:

Also, Starline is producing the correct dimensioned and head-stamped (again, 9mm Largo) brass, it is dimensionally identical (except for the rim) as the 38 Super, so you can use 38 Super dies with a standard 9mm shell holder to load (Lee even recommends this alternative to the more expensive 9mm Largo ONLY dies out there).
The Star pistols are excellent high quality guns; shoot them with the correct ammo and they'll last forever!
Yes, you can have a Model B 9mm Luger barrel fitted, IF you can find one! SARCO had some a number of years ago for just such a "dual-caliber" option for these guns, but they were so successful that NO ONE EVER lists one for sale, and SARCO for some unknown reason hasn't provided any more to date though I'm sure by now there are enough new surpluse guns floating around that they'd sell like hot cakes at a Scout-O-Rama!
Have fun with your new Star, but I warn you, collecting them becomes a quick and strong habit!0 -
The model P barrel won't work, but the "B" barrel should. 0 -
sounds good, thank you guys for the advice,
