    If your referring to the lever actions made in the 1860's, their pre 1898 antiques as far as the feds are concerned. Iowa or Missouri might have state laws though, regulating the sale and transport of firearms that would affect what you plan on doing.

    If the auction is being run by an FFL dealer or an FFL dealer is available at the auction then an out of state resident can purchase a long gun at the auction with the dealer performing the transfer on site, if state laws allow for it. If there is no FFL dealer at the auction then the firearm must be shipped to a dealer in your state for transfer to you. Antiques are generally unrestricted.
