Win. Mod. 42 vs, Mod. 12 ??

Other than guage, what are the differences between the two, if any?? Until recently, I have always thought the "42" to be just a small version of the "12". Have I been mistaken and, if so, how?

  My understanding as they are totaly different in design even though they look the same. No parts interchange. Somone else here should know the details.

  Model 12 was designed by T C Johnson and William Roemer was credited with the development of the model 42. Their designs are very similar...Roemer worked under Johnson at Winchester. Parts are not interchangeable.
