Browning Model 1910
I'm having trouble getting the slide off a Browning 1910 target model. Have just purchased it but have a book that tells to lock slide back and turn barrel 1/3 turn ccw, release slide lock and remove slide, but slide is still locked in place. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks

As I recall a special tool is required to get the retainer bushing off the front of the slide. It's a flat piece of metal with a notch cut in it. The notch fits over the barrel, as the metal on either side engages the two lugs on either side of the retainer bushing. Pushing in on the tool and turning releases the bayonet lock that retains the bushing. 0 -
my book says you unscrew the bushing after you remove the slide with the barrel. 0 -
When you locked the slide did you release the pressure on the firing pin by pulling the trigger first? If the barrel was turned with the pistol cocked then the slide cannot be removed from the frame. 0 -
Thanks for all the useful info, I just was not turning the barrel enough, had to kind of shake it to get it to turn more. All is well now, thanks 0
