Will a Ruger Black Hawk 9MM cylinder fit a NEW MODEL BLACK HAWK 357 magnum? 0 -
some blackhawks came as comvertables with both the 357mag and 9mm cylinders these where fitted to the guns at the factory ,
whether or not a 9mm cylinder will fit in a different gun than what it was made for all depends on how lucky you are , some times they will some times they don't
if you do try it make sure you have the timeing checkout by some one that knows what they are doing0 -
A 3-screw cylinder will not fit a new model. And, in my experience, the issue with interchangeability is not timing but the length of the cylinder. (They vary.) 0 -
ambrose has it right.
the cylinders on the new model (post 1973) are slightly shorter, about a tenth of an inch if i remember right. a good smith can take care of the length difference. i'm not sure if the change from colt style trigger to the 2 click new model style will affect timing or not.
ruger will fit a 9mm to a 357 if you buy the new cylinder from them and ship the gun to them for fitting.
cost me 200 a couple yrs ago on a SS pistol.
