Beretta Silver Pigeon Pump Shotgun

I have been given a Beretta Silver Pigeon pump action 12 gauge shotgun. Serial number is 019XXX. What I need to know is how to take it down for cleaning. I unscrew the cap on end of forend like my other shotguns but the barrel is tight. The bottom of the cap also has a light spring attached to it. Also in trying to take the trigger group out only the screw closest to the stock will come out. The front screw the trigger group will pivot on only turns like its striped or something. Anyone have any idea when this was made, what its worth and how to take it apart to clean? It isn't pretty, has some surface rust and missing alot of the finish on the wood. It has a plain barral, no vent rib. The bore on the other hand looks perfect and it shoots well.

    One of the Italian proof marks is a coded date in a Roman Numeral format. If you give us the Roman Numerals, we can give you the date.

    many times there will be a pin running from one side of the receiver to the other side and BOTH sides have a screw slot you will have to hold one side and turn the other side.

    As far as the proof marks the only roman numerals i can find are XVI? Does that sound right? They are kinda hard to see with the barrel on but until I figure out how to remove it thats the best I can do.
    Looking at that screw, it only has a slot on the one side, the other side is smooth and possibly slightly rounded. Thanks again for trying to help me.

    XVI would be 1960.

    Next problem is when I fire this gun and cycle the action it dosen't release a round from the magazine to be picked up by the carrier until I pull the trigger and cycle the action a second time. It does this every time. I loaded it with 4 fired shells and it cycles properly every time. This only happens when firing the gun with loaded ammunition.

    now to add another twist. the action dosent stay locked up when firing. If you don't hold the forend forward when firing it will kick the action open and sometime have enough force to eject the spent shell. When that happens you have to cycle the action a second time to pick up a fresh round from the magazine. Any help?

    Sounds like this shotgun need to take a trip to a Gunsmith that knows how it works before someone gets hurt.[xx(][:(]

    It's the very rare double clutch auto-pump model. High speed low drag...
    Seriously though, Time for a trip to a smith for a complete checkup. That could get dangerous quickly

    Thanks for the replys guys, I was afraid that was the answer I was going to get. This gun was sooo gumed up it wouldn't even fire and was hoping that it might just need a little more cleaning. Thanks again for the replys.
