22WRF & 22MAG

Hello to All,
Would running .22WRF in my Ruger Super Six or bolt action rifles chambered for .22MAG be like running .22 shorts or .22 longs in a .22LR action[?]

  Your pistol in .22mag , being a revolver requires the bullet to move forward in firing until it leaves the cylinder and enters the barrel forcing throat and then engaging the rifling. The fractional difference in cartridge length should be of no concern. Being a plated bullet, wrf, it may cause residue build up at the throat. As to a rifle chamber there is the possibility of burnt powder build up at the shorter case end after considerable firing of shorter rounds. The same occurrence in center fire upon repeated firing of cases trimmed fractionally shorter.
  Accuracy is going to be dependent of your individual firearm due to bullet weight/velocity and shape difference bwt wrf and wmrf.
  Suggest you simply continue with your normal gun cleaning. While we are on this the 22wrf offers a lower report than a standard 22mag and if used in the hollow point(cci 22wrf hollow point) version makes an excellent small game cartridge, the solid point is of little use.
