17 mach 2 17 hmr

have a 17 hmr rifle 17 mach 2 has same twist etc as 17 hmr. can 17 mach 2 be shot effectively in 17 hmr rifle. Thanks for assistance

No, you cannot fire 17 M2 in your 17 HMR rifle. It will not function in the magazine, and when you do pull the trigger on a live round the case will burst. It is not like a 22LR where you can shoot longs or shorts.

NO You'll just blow the case out at the shoulder

The Mach 2 is based on a 22 LR case. The HMR is based on a 22 Mag case. Different diameters- and, as the guys said, will split the case. Bad ju-ju.
