Winchester Model 1885
My husband passed away and I am trying to put some info together on the guns I have in my possession. I would like to start with a winchester Model 1885 it is a 22 WCF single shot. I believe the octagaon barrel is 26 inches. I can find some reference but my gun is a little different. Its lever and hammer are out of stainless steel or nickel, they are very shiny and polished. The gun does have a repair to the buttstock but otherwise is in very good shape The serial number is 116365 Thank you for you help.

Margie, forum moderator BertH is at the Reno Gunshow this weekend. He is doing a book on the 1885's, and will want to see clear pics. You'll get detailed info on your rifle. 0 -
+1 Margie wait for Bert H. He will be able to give you when it was shipped. If you don't have good closeup 6 inches away Pictures of all markings,If you don't want to do it yourself, then see if you can get someone to take them for you .That will save you time when Bert gets back. That is the first thing he will ask for. 0 -
Hello Margie,
I am writing this from my hotel room in Reno... as Trap55 and Perry Shooter mentioned, it would be best if you can post (or send me) several clear close-up pictures of your Model 1885 rifle.
The serial number places the date of manufacture in the year 1915. It is most likely a low-wall rifle with a No. 1 barrel.0 -
Bump...Bert, this is a nice lady who is having trouble contacting you with her pics...just thought I would get it (the post) back into the pipe... Best, Bill 0 -
