1903 springfield hoffer-thompson
i have just traded for a 1903 springfield a old man had and realized when i got it home it was chambeard for 22.....it has the flaming bomb sa 2-10.... serial # 411525.......could this be the rare hoffer-thompson 22.... its in great shape and bluing looks great... can someone help me please figure out the value?

The breech area of the receiver is quite distinctive on the H-T Springfields. Compare yours to the one in the photo. Post quality photos of yours for identification and valuation advice.

OK I saw this and nearly fell over!!! This was the very first 22 I ever had! It had the smoothest bolt I have ever felt. It was an amazing firearm and in my foolish youth I sold it[:(][:(] It is the one firearm that I truly regret ever letting go. The magazine was a very sought after item. I remember never being able to find spares. Thanks for the nostalgic reminder.
P.S. I have no idea if it was hoffer-thompson? I was 8 when I got it. It looked exactly like the picture
EDIT: I remember that it said Springfield armory on it and it was a detachable mag. It may also have been more parkerized than blued. That was so many years ago. I don't think it had the top wood handgaurd either but my memory is...0 -
The HT uses steel 30-06 chamber inserts that hold the .22's. Is it marked "22". in places like the front of the stock, the bolt, the top of the receiver bridge at back. Is it marked "22" anywhere?
What is distinctive about the rifle in the picture? Looks like a regular 1903 to me.

Justjump, If your rifle had a detachable magazine it was a 1922, 1922M1, 192MII or M2 Springfield. They have extremely smooth bolt throws.
MP, The Hoffer Thompson exterior looks exactly like the 1903. The only noticeable physical difference is the .22 bore. Of course this would not be visible in the photo posted above.0
