Replacing stock on 870
How difficult is it to replace the foregrip, wood slide, on an 870?

It can be challenging. The forend stock is on very tight.
There is a tool needed to remove the retaining nut to not damage the wood and even with it sometimes the wood splits.0 -
kissgoodnight,
Getting the original wood off is no problem with the right tools. The forearm wrench can be purchased new from Brownells or Midway but if you're handy in the shop, it's are easy to make also.
New wood will have to be checked for fit so as not to split it during recoil. Synthetic stocks don't have this problem.
I change mine out several times a year.
