gun storage

I have recently retired. Plan on spending my winters in Florida. My guns will be staying in upstate NY in my gun safe. Will I have a problem with my guns being stored in the unheated safe for the winter? There will be no heat in the house. Would appreciate any input.

    What is the best thing to apply to your guns that are going to be stored in a safe for awhile and not be used? I was thining of using Rem oil? But was wondering if something works better. YOU GUYS ARE HITTING THIS RIGHT ON THE HEAD. SOME OF THESE GUNS WILL ONLY GET WIPED DOWN ONCE A YEAR. I HAVE A FAIRLY LARGE COLLECTION AND WOULD LIKE TO THINK TWICE A YEAR. BUT TO BE REALISTIC. SOME MAY SEE ONCE A YEAR. SO I'M LOOKING FOR THE BEST.

    I've used G96 Gun Treatment for 30+ years on all of my guns, including my prewar Winchesters and Colts. I've never had a problem, but I do take them out and wipe them down about every 3-6 months if I haven't had them out and wiped them down recently.

    Been using Breakfree Collector at home and the Museum.

    I use Rem Oil and haven't had any problems. I also store each gun in a silicone treated gun sock, mostly to help avoid safe dings. Some people recommend against it, citing possible damage to the wood finish, but I've never had a problem and have been doing it now for about 10 years.

    Like Radar, I have been using Breakfree collector for many years and am universally happy with the results. I have a large collection, and there are guns I get out only once a year, so I feel the Breakfree is doing it's job nicely.

    I've been using the gun socks and a golden rod plus Rem oil.

    Purchase a can of Boeing T5 shield.
    It's like a spray on wax. I use to buy
    for our field Technicians. No more
    salt spray grungy hardware 80 foot
    up on a mast. Great stuff.
    In a gun safe the stock will rot before the metal
    rusts.

    Also use Breakfree Collector. Howards Feed and Wax on the wood. Fibnaly got Goldenrods in all the cabinets. Try to go over everything at least once a year. Still have minor problems occasionaly but normaly catch problems before any damage is done. Have good luck with $3 gunshow cases also. Seem to have less rust in them than on guns not in cases. Plastic cases are a no no. Guaranteed to ruse. They don't breathe.

    I have used G96 (very good results) but am now using One Shot by Hornady. Seems a great product as well.
