German Youth Helmet
Sorry I could not post as a reply on the other German youth helmet post. Here are the pictures of the German stuff I bought today.

Well, it appears to be a genuine M42 Luftwaffe helmet to me. Nice find and a good price.

Salut!

The helmet appears to be a Luftwaffe M-40 due to the rolled edge. It appears to be original, but these are well faked. The pin is an army visor insignia. 0 -

I have this same helmet, in near-identical condition. It was given to me by a family friend over 50 years ago. He was with a hospital unit that set up near a destroyed flak gun in Cherbourg, France. It is tiny, so much so, I could not begin to wear it when I was 10. I only found one other kid who could wear it.
The Luftwaffe used kids in air defense units late in the war.
For what it is worth, I think the helmet is genuine, based on the excellence of the photos.0 -
Ilwil,I don't know much about prices on them..I had to pay 200.00 for the one I bought... 0 -
Wallbanger, I think you did more than OK. Occasionally I look on EBay for comparisons, and have seen Luftwaffe helmets in much worse condition, for $500.00 and up. Incidentally, mine is size 53, even smaller than yours. My little boy neighbor, 5 yo, can put it on. It is too small for his 7 year old brother. I never could wear it, even when it was gifted to me.
I really doubt anyone is faking boys Luftwaffe helmets. I know mine is real because of how my friend got it; I also have a set of Luftwaffe chevrons he cut off the poor youngster's dead body at the same time.0
