With that many addresses, I would be a bit worried. The part of his bank not immediaely cashing your BANK money order is not suspicious. My bank will usually tell me there is a two or three day hold on the funds. Hence in my auctions, I tell the bidders that the item will not be shipped, untill the funds CLEAR.

What was the seller's ratings like? Did you check them before you bid?

    EDIT 1

    Nononsense,

I just noticed you changed the pictures in your signature. From what I can see, that is a beautiful piece of wood, and superb metal craftsmanship. What might be a description of that piece of working art?

I always send the FFL with payment so they can't say I got one but not the other. I send it with a tracking number just to verify. Also, I use USPS money orders. If the bank won't cash it the Post Office will. One benefit to using USPS is if there is hanky panky it beomes a federal offense or so I'm told (mail fraud). Checking feedback is also wise before you bid.

    Ilove2collectguns2,

The telephone could be a cell phone with the attached Georgia area code and address. Mine is in a similar condition.

The addresses though is enough to give you pause but he should be afforded the chance to make the transaction happen.

Bank money orders are held until cleared because of potential fraud.

    Best.

Thanks everyone for there replies. I appreciate it. He had no rating which isn't unusual so I really didn't think much on it. I guess I just getting worked up over nothing. I just thought it was strange. My bank told me today that they would verify if his bank called so maybe it will be cleared up. It seems Wells Fargo(his bank) are pains. I just never had this problem before but have used USPS money orders before too. I do understand about the FFL too. That is a good idea. I'll have to remember that next time. Thanks again.

I do not blame you for being worried. I would be worried, too. From what you said, there are simply too many inconsistencies on this one.

The only thing that lends substance to this guy being legitimate that I saw in what you said is that he called you to say he received your payment. All else sounds negative. But, a competent con could do something like that to slow your taking action until the funds clear.

If I were you, (and, this is simply my advice and nothing more) I would give him one more day to contact you with some positive news, then call him and tell him you do not like the suspicious nature of what you have been seeing and tell him what you have been seeing and that it has a very bad smell. Tell him that he has two days to get the weapon in the shipping loop or you are cancelling the sale due to his suspicious manner of doing business and that you want him to return your payment draft (i.e. your bank check). If he hem-haws around about it, get his bank name and cancel the check at your bank. You might want to personally contact his ffl holder and discuss the situation from the perspective of does he know this guy, does he have the weapon in his possession, etc., but NOT to badmouth the seller or give him all the whys and wherefores of your how you came to purchase the firearm and your concerns about the transaction. Just stick to collecting from his ffl holder simple data that either lends substance or not to the guy's legitimacy. If he refuses to call you back or return emails or if he refuses to give you his bank name and ffl holder and their contact information, well then, I think there is a major problem.
