Was at gun show yesterday and found rock island 1911 sc 45 for 429.00 didnt seem like a bad price it was NIB any thoughts also picked up a mossberg plinkster w/ 3by7 scope for the grandson for 100.00 also new that was a good deal

  About standard price for the Rock Island and everyone who has one says they are a good pistol.
  Not sure about the Mossberg, looks to be about the right money, too new for me though.

  My Rock Island was in the $400. range 3 years ago when I bought it. It has been a reliable pistol.

  I bought the commander size when it went on sale, good pistol, no problems.

  Mine (center) is one of my favorites. Bought it a few years back for $350ish.
  
  Factory grips are kinda cheap feeling so I switched them out.
  Hammer had some hammer bite, had the trimmed a hair and an ambi safety added.
  
  Not sure what model you are looking at but check out the Rock Island Tactical. Taller sights are nice along with beavertail grip safety.
