DPSM Quality

Local dealer has AR style guns made by DPSM. How do they stack up in the overall against other makes.
I'm looking for a SHTF type gun and could use your help.

    Since we all assume that you meant DPMS, I'll follow your question as stated.

    DPMS rifles, as they arrive from the factory, are a mid-level production rifle. This simply means that overall, they are middle of the road in both quality and performance. They are not the greatest nor are they the most expensive either. They will usually perform the task and fill the niche that you're looking for in your question.

    I understand that having something right at hand to hold and fondle can play a significant role in decision making but I will suggest looking around carefully at other AR rifles available as the prices have come down at this point. You can find some bargains out there right now for rifles with slightly better reputations. Be sure to check parts availability as well as accessories for the model you decide on finally. Be aware of magazine selection also.

    It's nonsense to be disfunctional@5AM but I was, yes its DPMS.
    NOnonsense: you got the purpose of my question. I'm a lover of quality firearms and would like to get the most bang for the buck. I'm more a good basic gun and not so much on "gee whiz" when it comes to self defence.
    I'd appreciate any advice you would care to impart on this subject. In the end I'm responsible for my decisions but feel better with as much imput as I can get.

    I have dealt with several hundred DPMS rifles. While they are not 100% perfect they have had a better track record for us than Bushmaster or Rock River, although I like both those brands as well. I have been very happy with DPMS. I have had to send Two DPMS rifles back in the last 10 years.

    I'll put my DPMS M4 up against any other AR out there.
    It eats anything put through it.
