Most likely belonged to Military officer that served in Germany after the WW II and the engraving was done by German Gun Smith . I do not believe it is factory Engraving. Looks to be very good Quality but German design.

Good evening, I am new on the forum. I purchased this engraved winchester 63. I am trying to find out who engraved this gun? This gun was made in 1958, if that helps any. It is beautiful and i would like to learn more about it.. Thank You, Steve

    Hello Steve,

I agree... it is a very nice looking Model 63. That said, it is not factory original engraving. As to who did the work?... that is likely to remain a mystery, but whoever it was, that had some talent.

Agree, oak leaf engraving is a common Germanic motif.
I wonder where the possum headed fox is native to.
(If you want your portrait or a pet's engraved on a gun, be sure you check out his work on people and critters. That is tough.)
