Savage model 24H 22 mag / 410
This Savage model 24H was part of my fathers collection. I have the new Blue Book of Gun Values 2010. They don't list model H in the listings. I can narrow the search down by reading the discriptions of the other models listed. Is this gun in the plain Model 24 O/U group?? What does the H stand for if it's not listed in the book?? Barrels are 22 win mag.RF only over 410 3"chamber, visable hammer, selector switch is on the hammer, top lever release, 1R in a circle stamped on the barrel L/S, 17R in a circle stamped on the L/S of the reciever. The reciever is case hardened with a blued barrel. It has what looks like a dovetail on each side of the barrel behind the rear sight. Barrels are not seperated. This thing locks up tight and shows very little use. Can anybody tell me what I have here. Thank you for your time!!!

You have one of the many Savage/Stephens over and under rifle/shotguns. The most common was the .22 LR over a .410. I would suggest you rifle should be worth about the same as .22 LR/.410. You can do a search of completed auctions and see what has been bid or actually paid for one. These were inexpensive guns and many a young man started out his shooting/hunting career with one. 0 -
At one time they were very cheap-under 200-but have gone up in recent years. Just check completed auctions. Top snap/hammer selector seems to be the most common. Front of trigger guard and side of frame lever are not as numerous, or desirable. 0 -
Blue Books in the past have seriously undervalued the Stevens 24 They're not rare but sell quickly here i the midwest. 0 -
sammyb52....welcome to the GB ATE Forum and thanks for your question. You have a Savage/Stevens O/U as you know and the H is the factory code for the .22WM/410. It is one of the rarer ones available and is a bit more valuable than the regular .22 offering. These O/U are getting more valuable as the years go by as they are very flexible, nice to breakdown for travel, and do the job in the field. The rarest of all the Model 24's is the .357/20g (V Model) which in some areas goes for as much at $800+. Without photos hard to tell what yours is worth, but if in 90% shape probably in the $300-400 or so range. Hope this helps[^] 0 -

I'm looking of something like this for my 12 year old. I had one in a 22LR when I was young. Send me some pictures if you would. Providing you still have it or want to sell it. I'd like to get him something that he will have for many years to come. If you don't want to sell it, I completely understand.
