Rand 1911A1 w/pictures
Well, I found another Colt today that I couldn't pass up. Yes, it's an arsenal rework. But it's a nice...I think. Check out the pictures and tell me what you think.

According to the Blue Book & Coolgunsite.com, the serial number matches the Remington Rand production dates for 1942 - 1943. See below:
Year/s serial numbers
1942-43 916405 - 1041404
In person the finish is absolutely the same between the slide and frame. I agree the pistol has been refinished, but I believe the frame and slide to both be Rand. Also, if I'm not mistaken the barrel should be High Standard.
Am I correct on this or have I overlooked something?

Merely an oversight. Thanks for your help with this Colt of mine and several others I've purchased over the last couple of years. You are an asset to this online community, and your opinion is very well respected. Honesty, I would not have doubted you, or even looked at serial ranges, except when I purchased the pistol today, I was assured by the salesman I have dealt with for a couple of years (and purchased several pistols over a grand from) that the serial fell into the Rand range.
Anyway, all I wanted to say was thanks again.

Hello Looks like this pistol was refinished at least twice once by Rock Island Arsenal which is not that much of a bad thing but the second time it May have been a home gunsmith type job [:(]to get the slide to match the frame in looks> I feel this was done to make the Remington Rand Slide match the finish on the US&S frame. The High Standard Barrel could have been with the slide or Frame from the first rebuild. Looks to be all correct parts and most likely will be a good shooter.
EDIT Well that will teach me to only look at one reference . One said That was US&S but in another the Big Clawson book There is a picture of one that is a rem.Rand in the same serial range as yours. Sorry Karl.0
