What Value for Fulton Armory Polytech M14s?

Years ago I found a Polytech M14s which was fun. I got a nice tax refund and decided to let Fulton Armory redo it. This was back in the late 90's. I eventually got it back and realized my ambitions might be competition but my eyes aren't. It is nice. I took it to a couple of CMP matches and 200 yards and out it is all fuzzy to me. I've never shot it that much. When I'm in the mood for a battle rifle my SAR48 with a SUIT scope goes to the range. I've had great success with it at 100 yards but my eyes need glass to go further. Last night I was looking at it and realized I probably haven't fired it in over 8 years. Maybe it needs a new home.

This was his Chinese conversion package. NM rear sight, NM flash hider, medium weight barrel, great trigger. He basically replaced everything but the receiver with GI parts. It has a GI fiberglass stock with a hole where the naughty bits were. Being done during the ban, it has no bayonet lug but someone with better eyes than me could have a great match rifle. I have a pile of mags, including some 5's.

I hate hidden reserve auctions. I know I have no pictures. I'll probably work on it. Any ideas about what would be a good start price and guesses where it would end up?

    I would list it at $1,500 & hope the bidding gets close to $2K.

    If it doesn't get a bid at $1,500, you can always drop the price. Nice thing about GB is that you don't pay a listing fee.

    The folks who do best on auctions are those who post MANY sharp, well-lit photos of every part of the item, & give a COMPLETE description of the item, as well as a reasonable return policy & fair shipping charge.

    I didn't know it was needed. I've searched on issues about that and found none and never heard of problems. The all Chinese ones were noted for having the bolts break after awhile. The Fulton rebuild just kept the receiver as the only Chinese part.

    I think your guess is pretty good. There is a lack of other ones to compare against but in the current economy it seems right. I agree that you can't have too many pictures. Nowadays when I sell, I have lower res pictures to upload and include a link to an album of high res pictures on photobucket. The gun will need a good cleaning first. I heavily use the white military grease on a safe queen like this which looks awful in pictures.

    I agree about reasonable return. I do 3 day unconditional. I just got bit by this but that is life.

    just fooling you there was great boohoo from all the 14 builders on how the chicom 14 had to have the recivers retreated...it was a bunch of hooey for a long time the only forged recievers were the goverment and the chicom till the LRB came on board i have 2 myself with no problems to date

    You wascally wabbit! Back in the 90's there weren't many choices. There was a crappy US company making them. Springfield was getting going and limited. I had a reweld Winchester, supposedly by the one guy who did it right. Still made me nervous and I traded it when I got a Polytech. Since I never throw anything away I dug up the papers. NM Flash suppressor, NM front sight, NM spring guide, Medium weight NM barrel, NM gas system, NM rear sight & NM trigger. I could have had had a great time with this 30 or 40 years ago.

    Steve, let me know when you put it up. I have a NIB Polytech/Norinco & wanted to have fulton do it. Yours sounds OK. Did the change the trigger, hammer & sight?
