i just inherited a S&W 38 special model 60....its an older gun....was just wonderin about how much its worth

i was wondering what year my s&w 38 special nickel plated revolver was...serial number 240975..6 inch barrel with pearl grips

S & W has made millions of 38 Special revolvers in the last 100+ years. If you can't provide quality photos using the instructions in this link.

We at the very least would have to know what all the markings are on it, over and above the serial number you have given us.

the last pat. date on top of the barrel is sept 14 09 the barrel sight is part of the barrel

also there is 7492 stamped on the frame where the chamber closes

From the patent number you have given, it appears to be a 3rd change, Model of 1905, Hand Ejector, made in 1915.
